About Us

Chief Instructor: Craig Borman Sensei – a 5th Dan Aikikai, AFSA Shidoin and Technical Committee member – has been training Aikido for more than 23 years. His first instructor was Darko Vucetic Sensei (5th Dan). Craig Sensei graded to Shodan (1st Dan) in 1999 by the late Giorgio Veneri Sensei (6th Dan) and a year later went to study Aikido under Franco Martufi Sensei (6th Dan) for one year. Upon his return, he established an Aikido Dojo in Blairgowrie in 2003. Craig Sensei received his Nidan (2nd Dan) and Sandan (3rd Dan) from Veneri Sensei in 2002 and 2005 respectively, and his Yondan (4th Dan) from Franco Martufi Sensei in 2010. Craig Sensei was promoted to Godan (5th Dan) in January of 2016 by Aikikai Hombu Dojo.
Craig Sensei moved the Dojo to Bryanston in 2007 where Shizentai Dojo was established. Craig Sensei has been to Japan three times – in 2003, 2008 and 2014 – to study Aikido. He has also travelled various times to Italy, England and Guam to train with high ranking Aikidoka. Craig Sensei is assisted by his wife Lisa Borman (1st Dan) who has been studying Aikido for 14 years.
After moving to Nelspruit in 2016, Craig Sensei opened another Dojo in Nelspruit and a 3rd dojo in Sabie. The Bryanston Dojo is assisted by Steven Gordon Sensei (2nd Dan). Craig Sensei gives classes every few weeks and hosts weekend seminars. Craig Sensei has many students of all ages who train regularly with many new students joining on a regular basis.
